It’s almost here! Squeals of excitement!

The Cubs Convention is this weekend, and although I’ve never been, I imagine it to be like the scene in Charlie in the Chocolate Factory where they enter that first room and everything is edible, and everyone starts eating everything in sight. You know, except that “everyone” is just Jim Hendry, and everything is only “edible” in the sense that you can put it in your mouth and chew.

Oh, yeah, the Convention:

Among the current Cubs slated to take part in the three-day event are [Alfonso Soriano, Geovany Soto, Ryan Dempster and newly acquired Milton Bradley, as well as] Neal Cotts, Mike Fontenot, Rich Harden, Reed Johnson, Carlos Marmol, Sean Marshall, Jeff Samardzija, Ryan Theriot and Carlos Zambrano. Cubs.com.

You can also see Cubs greats Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Fergie Jenkins and Ryne Sandberg. Not to mention Tim Stoddard.

Complete schedule and appearances after the jump.

we were having a discussion on what it would take to go to the cubs convention. i think you’d have to pay me the equivalent of a mortgage payment.

then again, i’m a miserable human being.

I would go if Joey Gathright would jump my car.

    And then valet it.

    that won’t pay the mortgage.
