We all knew this was coming. Let’s just be glad Jim Hendry was able to trade Pie long before Spring Training when everyone in the world KNEW the Cubs had to dump him.

The Cubs have reached agreement with the Orioles on a deal that will send Pie to Baltimore for left-hander Garrett Olson and Class A right-hander Henry Williamson, according to major-league sources.

Olson is thought to be coveted by the Padres. Just something to chew on.

Williamson has a big time arm. Olsen is the pitching equivalent of Pie, very good minor league numbers with zero success in the majors with limited chances. To me it appears that we somehow received more for Pie than we did DeRosa, which is really mind boggling.

Eh, I think Olson is obviously the highest upside of the 5, but Jeff Stevens appears the most ready to actually positively contribute to the Cubs in 2008. Also, Chris Archer’s numbers are slightly less impressive in A ball than Williamson, but Archer is like three years younger.

Then again, maybe the Cubs *should* get more for Pie. He’s young, huge upside, and is under cheap control for several years. DeRosa only had one year left on his deal.
