cublogoverse The Cublogoverse is DisappointedNecessary background:

  • Hire Jim Essian is an excellent blog. Of all the Cubs blogs of which I’m secretly jealous, HJE is probably at the top. Except for The Cubs Brickyard – whoever the guy is that writes for the Brickyard is a genius. And humble.
  • I first learned of HJE when its lead writer, Bad Kermit, had the opportunity to attend a private luncheon last year, where Cubs GM Jim Hendry was the keynote speaker. Hendry remarked quite candidly throughout the lunch, and noted that he appreciated how his comments from previous events had not made it into the press. Bad Kermit reported what he heard. And it was awesome. It’s still a great read, even a year later.

So with that all said, HJE once again got the opportunity to attend the luncheon where Jim Hendry spoke openly. I tittered with anticipation.

Read about this year’s luncheon and why we’re a little disappointed after the jump. So, apparently Hendry was quite serious when he thanked those in attendance last year for keeping things private. And when HJE didn’t do that, although we appreciated it, Mr. Hendry did not. From this year’s writeup on the luncheon:

Anyhow, if you’re looking for me to give away secrets again this year, I’m not going to. It was selfish and disrespectful to do it last year, and if Jim catches wind of THIS post, I apologize. But I do want to point out a couple of things that are not detailed, and I assume not confidential, but that give you more of a hint of what a cool guy Jim Hendry is. The “Bloggers’ Luncheon” Take Two.

Blue balls.

I totally understand, and HJE is probably doing the right thing. But still, I was a little disappointed not to get the goods.
