The Chicago Cubs are turning Japanese again – they took on the Japanese team yesterday. The Cubs lost by a run, but it was probably fun or something.

  • Mike Fontenot continues to do nothing but hit. Another couple hits, and it’s starting to become clear that, at a minimum, getting the majority of the second base at bats against righties is in his future.
  • Paul Bako hit a little and drove in a run. Grumble.
  • Kosuke Fukudome – playing for Japan, duh – went 1-4 with an RBI. He’s going to get the majority of at bats against righties as part of a center field platoon with Reed Johnson regardless, but it sure would be nice if he could, you know, start hitting well.
