Rumor: Mark DeRosa Back to the Cubs?
The Sons of Ivy Cubs message board is reporting that MLB network claimed the Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs are the primary suitors for former Cub Mark DeRosa. Now this is a third-hand kind of thing, so we’ll update as soon as we have a little more confirmation (not just on the MLB network report, but on the rumor, itself).
On the face of it, aside from the nominal embarrassment of dumping DeRosa in the offseason only to desperately need him back, it makes quite a bit of sense. Aramis Ramirez is not due back for another month and a half, and the Cubs could use a player like DeRosa – solid bat, and diverse fielding ability.

Seeing this article legitimately got me excited, but I know better than to get my hopes up with anything Cub-related.
Isn’t it ironic how relatively exciting a DeRosa trade would be? I haven’t seen the report myself, and this is the first time I’ve heard the Cubs and DeRosa linked – well, you know, since he was a Cub.
