Obsessive New Ownerwatch: Not So Fast on That Whole Done Deal Thing

Don’t say we didn’t tell you to be circumspect about the prospects of the deal being done soon.

The Tribune Co. is apparently “working on a deal” to sell the team, Wrigley Field and other assets to a group led by New York investor and former Chicagoan Marc Utay.

“They are not as far along as the Ricketts family but making quick progress,” a source told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday. Muskat Ramblings.

Reuters has even gone so far as to report that the TribCo. has struck a deal with Utay, though that report has been disputed.
