Contrary to popular belief, maligned outfield Milton Bradley was not signed by the Chicago Cubs to a 3 year, $30 million deal this offseason. He was signed to a 2 year, $18 million deal. The third year was an option dependent on games played, and was designed to protect the team against Bradley imploding.

Well so much for that.

Cubs right fielder Milton Bradley made a pinch-hit plate appearance in the 11th inning against the Phillies tonight, marking his 75th game played in 2009. The significance? The games played milestone caused his 2011 option, worth $12MM, to vest. MLBTradeRumors.com.

Should he return to his career averages, Bradley could still be a very useful part of the Chicago Cubs in 2010 and 2011.
