gods-wrathI know, I know. It seems like it’s all injury watches today. But, well… it is.

Some moderately good news on the Carlos Zambrano injury front (not to be confused with the Aramis Ramirez injury front, the Reed Johnson injury front, the Ted Lilly injury front, or the Tom Gorzelanny injury front) – his MRI came back without any serious concerns.

Manager Lou Piniella told the media in Denver that results of the MRI taken on pitcher Carlos Zambrano’s back showed no change from an MRI taken in 2006 and that Zambrano had an epidural injection to his lower back Sunday.

“If there’s any inflammation there at all, that should take care of it,” Piniella said on his WGN radio pregame show. Zambrano is on the disabled list because of lower-back spasms. Daily Herald.

Zambrano is expected to return when his disabled list time comes up on August 17, and with the epidural, he is now cleared to give birth.
