X-rays of Reed Johnson’s foot show it is not healing as quickly as hoped, and he most likely will not be available until early September. Muskat Ramblings.

Presumably, the emergence of Sam Fuld as a viable backup outfielder has allowed the Cubs to play it safe and slow with Reed Johnson’s recovery.

That the Cubs haven’t played a game of consequence in about a week also helps.
