Ted Lilly is a Great Pitcher, Person
Randy Wells has probably been the best starter for the Chicago Cubs this year, but there’s no doubt that Ted Lilly has been the anchor of the rotation. So the fact that his teammates nominated him for an award is no surprise. But the cool thing is that this award is for performance on the [...]
Enhanced Box Score: Astros 1, Cubs 4 – September 1, 2009
The Chicago Cubs continue to do just enough to not, like, actually make the playoffs, but instead torture us. Great outing by Randy Wells, who becomes the first Cubs rookie to win 10 games (completely meaningless stat) since Kerry Wood.
Hoffpauir, Berg and Blanco to Chicago
Well, the September call-ups thus far are a bit thin, with only three moving up to Chicago: first baseman/outfielder Micah Hoffpauir, reliever Justin Berg, and infielder Andres Blanco. Enhanced Box Score: Astros 5, Cubs 3 – August 31, 2009
You know, the poor outing by Rich Harden bothers me less in terms of the Cubs keeping a guy who had a poor outing, and more in terms of the unwillingness to call it a season already and start preparing for next year.

Jim Hendry Says the Cubs Were Never Really Going to Make a Trade
By Brett on September 2, 2009
To trade or not to trade? It was the question that dominated the headlines last week as the waiver trade deadline approached. Would the Chicago Cubs succumb to the reality that they are simply too far out of the playoff picture to make a run, and sell? Would the Cubs dump Rich Harden and Aaron [...]
