naples florida Chicago Cubs Still Considering Summering in NaplesDespite the best efforts of every man, woman, and child in Mesa, Arizona, the Chicago Cubs are still considering their Spring Training options.

Chicago Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts is planning to visit Naples, Florida, next month, according to a report in a Naples newspaper.

The team may be considering moving its spring training facility to southwest Florida. Currently, the Cubs train in Mesa, Arizona. But investors have been trying to lure the team away. abc7chicago.com.

Mesa has been working overtime to promise the Cubs improved facilities, including a new ballpark, but so far, it appears, the Cubs are not convinced.

It’s hard to blame the Cubs – might as well keep all options on the table as long as possible. If you’ve got two dudes trying to woo you, might as well let them fling woo until you’ve at least got a couple steak dinners and a necklace out of the deal.

The Cubs can opt out of their current long-term deal with Mesa next year, and could be springing somewhere else in 2012.
