Source: Cubs Not Interested in Melky Cabrera

When the Chicago Cubs lost out on OMG Curtis Granderson, eyes and minds turned to what now appears to be a relatively crowded New York Yankee outfield. But the Cubs eyes did not turn, apparently.

A Cubs source shot down rumored interest in New York Yankees switch hitter Melky Cabrera for their center-field needs and added that the Cubs hope to fill that need via free agency instead of through a trade. Mike Cameron remains at or near the top of that wish list, the source said. CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.

This is not a bad thing. Over the past few years, Cameron has actually been a significantly better hitter than Cabrera. And although Cameron is getting on in age, a short-term marriage between the two seems the best fit for the Cubs.
