setting the all time record for losing seasons is hardly anything to brag about. The ownership of the Pirates knows what is needed to win – they just choose not to do it – it’s more profitable to collect luxury tax money and put it in the pocket than to spend it to improve the team.
Wake up people – boycott this group of losers.

Pirates suck. There is no getting around it. A gazillion years of losing records is not going to come to an end this year. Listen people, it’s time to boycott this sorry lot. The Pirates are one of the most profitable teams in sports. As long as you keep paying to see thses losers play, they will continue to spend nothing to improve the team.

this is the worst thing to happen to pgh. WHY DON’T U YINZERS wake up !!!!!! you don’t go to a STEELER or PENS game for the FIREWORKS, STUPID CRAPPY CONCERTS etc. U GO FOR THE GAME!!!! the teams. the owners are putting crap out on the field and you EAT IT UP! this makes me sick. what did u think this year in 2010 that the bucs would pitch/ bat better when they have the same crap, nothing changed. i agree with the last 2 posts. pirates NEED A NEW OWNER.
EVERYONE IN THIS CITY HELPED PAY FOR PNC PARK, so don’t you want a team that could win every year or be well above 500. DON’T WISH FOR IT, DEMAND IT…. for christs sake. i hope the bucs will change some day. but i don’t support a minor league team for a mlb price

The Bucs in the cellar, imagine that. I find it fascinating that this will be an incredible 18th or 19th or whatever losing season. This team needs to be sold to someone who actually cares about the game. The new GM is a clueless. How is that a rookie in Washington strikes out 14 Pirate batters and the Pirate pitchers cannot get more than maybe 4 or 5 a game. It is ridiculous. Their starting pitching rotation is terrible. How long do you think Andrew M. will be around? He is a great player so that instantly means trade for two more shitty pitchers. It seems to happen every year. The Bucs will never even see .500 again this year. Truly sad for a team that has a great past with some great players.

Just randomly found my way here — ya, Pirates aren’t looking to hot… again. I am a ‘fan’, but only because I support my home teams regardless. Honestly, watching baseball is like watching golf — I’d rather see paint dry, my backyard’s weeds get taller, or my pubes get curlier. So, I’m just not a die-hard baseball fan, and never will be.

Luckily my hometown of Pittsburgh has bigger and better teams (Pens & Steelers) — so I have the luxury of seeing winning teams, even more watch sporting events that are actually interesting and non-drowsy.

Anyways, to get back to Pirate’s real problems, it’s simple. Blame Robert Nutting. It’s that simple. He’d rather make a buck by turning a baseball game into a business meets family-fun center. We, the pirates fans, have seen decent talent just come and go, all because owners aren’t willing to pay the money. The day pirates get a true owner, then only will things may look a little brighter.

Yeah, the comments are very down this year. Last year, these posts had some exposure on SI’s Fan Nation, but they did away with my ability to do the same this year.
