March/April is Silva’s best month, 17-7 with a 4.10 ERA. Unfortunately, in May he is 6-19 with 5.90 ERA, so we may find out quickly whether his great start is luck, good pitching, or just a trend in his career.

I dont know if he is good or not. But a switch to the weaker hitter NL centeral most likely didnt hurt him at all.

stats suggest that Silva is also benefiting from a stronger Chicago defense.

His BABIP is .178. This signifies that he has been lucky and also backed up by a plus defense. Oddly his fly ball percentage is inflated from his career numbers. Based on this I expect his luck to run out eventually.

However, for as long as it lasts I think that Lou made the right decision to keep him in the rotation.

The BABIP of .178 says everything. That’s completely unsustainable.
