Whither Chad Tracy – Jeff Baker or Mike Fontenot Next?
Forgotten in the hoopla of Starlin Castro’s promotion to Chicago was the necessary and corresponding roster move: the Cubs optioned Chad Tracy to AAA Iowa. Tracy was the 25th man out of Spring Training, beating Kevin Millar for the last spot primarily thanks to versatility. That versatility doesn’t help, however, if you can’t hit – [...]
Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 14, Reds 7 – May 7, 2010
No. He. Didn’t. While his debut was both impressive and record-setting, we need to be sure to temper our expectations for Starlin Castro. He’s probably not going to drive in six runs on a homer and a triple in every game. The triple and three RBI will suffice.

Series Preview: Cubs v. Reds, May 7 – May 9, 2010
It’s series preview time again as the Chicago Cubs head down to Cincinnati to take on the Reds. Great American Ballpark skews to the offense, and the Cubs sure could use it. A refresher on the series preview here at Bleacher Nation: The idea is to hook you up with the bare minimum of what [...]

If the Cubs start winning, you can be assured that this will be the move credited with moving [...]
Randy Wells Really Sucked Last Night, And He Knows It
Chicago Cubs starter Randy Wells came out of nowhere last year to be one of the better pitchers in the National League, and to finish among the top handful of vote-getters in the Rookie of the Year race. But still, because had not been a highly-touted prospect, Cubs fans have been waiting for the other [...]
Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 1, Pirates 11 – May 6, 2010
Five runs in three games against what had been the worst pitching staff in the National League. That’s… not good. Top it off with an absolute egg from Randy Wells tonight, and you get one big steaming enhancement.
Ruh Roh: Derrek Lee Questions the Ramirez Move Down the Lineup
Yesterday, Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella (rightfully) moved struggling third baseman Aramis Ramirez down the lineup to sixth. The move failed to immediately spark the offense, and Lou was pretty hot about it after the game. ”What am I going to do? Wait until the All-Star Game to make moves?” Piniella said, bristling at a [...]
