Enhanced Box Score: Pirates 3, Cubs 4 – May 16, 2010
Glory, glory hallelujah: the Cubs managed to beat the Pirates. It’s just a lame-ass, one-run, mid-May win against a terrible team, but it felt like the freaking playoffs. Once again the starter gave up runs early, but this time, the Cubs actually managed to score some runs late.
The Chicago Cubs Would Like to Trade Derrek Lee
Well here’s a bit of a shocker – at least, it’s a shocker that this is coming up in May as opposed to July. The Chicago Cubs are willing to move first baseman Derrek Lee. Not as shocking? Nobody’s interested. Derrek Lee, first baseman, Cubs: If the Cubs could move him, they would, according to [...]

Whoa: Several Cubs Officials Had – and Still Have – Reservations About Starlin Castro Promotion
The Chicago Cubs promoted top prospect Starlin Castro, 20, last week – a move that was questioned as panic-driven. Most thinking folks rejected that kind of criticism, believing there was no way the Cubs organization would promote a 20-year-old kid as a knee-jerk reaction to a bad series or two. Turns out, we were wrong. [...]
Oh Great: Carlos Zambrano is Getting Frustrated
Chicago Cubs setup pitcher (still weird to say it) Carlos Zambrano helped hold down the Cubs’ 4-3 win yesterday over the Florida Marlins, but when manager Lou Piniella came to get him in the middle of the eighth inning, Zambrano was visibly unhappy with either the decision or his performance, or both. Aside from the [...]
