One response to “Obsessive New Manager Watch: Hendry Praising Quade”

  1. Jeff

I’m sure that most fans feel as I do. This is the same approach Hendry has taken since the year he signed Lilly, Dempster, and Soriano. Minimum movements, minimize risks, don’t add salary, hope a young player or two breaks out, hope for the best from aging overpaid vets. We are now seeing Hendry’s “no guts” approach being applied to the managerial search. The Cubs will do the bare minimum this offseason, try to shop a veteran or two and fail, overpay for a utility guy and flash in the pan bullpen arm, and declare we are contenders because of winning a few meaningless games this september. Where are Rickett’s promised improvements now? Did he not say he would do everything he could to help the team win, including spend money? They have done nothing but cut payroll since he took control. I curse Bud Selig and his band of bitter old yes men everyday since they denied Mark Cubans bid to buy the team.
