Chicago Cubs center fielder Marlon Byrd is a physical beast. Just look at those guns.

And that begs the question of questions – can Marlon Byrd hit a ball so hard that it could hurt Marlon Byrd? Yesterday, Byrd attempted to answer.

Marlon Byrd was taken to a local hospital for X-rays as a precautionary measure after a foul ball bounced off the dirt and hit the Cubs center fielder on the right side of the face.

Byrd had a small facial cut and a bruise after getting hit in the third inning in Friday’s 7-1 loss to the Cardinals. His status is day to day. cubs.com.

The world will have to await the answer, but Byrd is expected to be ok.
