Well, That Was Short: Adrian Gonzalez to the Red Sox

The Red Sox decided to pull the trigger on the Adrian Gonzalez trade, according to multiple sources (for example, here). The Red Sox will announced Gonzalez with a press conference tomorrow, but I’m hearing that they agreed to do the trade without an extension for Gonzalez (no extension is in place as of right now) – which was, in part, because of the Cubs’ active pursuit.

It’s certainly a bummer. No way around it.

Yup. The Nats will sign Pena and the Cubs won’t trade for Davis. LaRoche will go the the Padres and Overbay will go to the O’s. Colvin will play 1st and suck.
