I find it funny that the Rangers have been connected to the Cubs so much recently. We stole Byrd from them, stole their hitting coach, stole the pitcher they tried to acquire, AND a possible trade that would land us Davis and O’Day. Ha ha. They must really hate us about now.

…great inside info on how trade went down…

… it didn’t appear that the Rangers missed Rudy Jaramillo as their hitting coach last year, or really missed Marlon Byrd for that much…

…I will throw a topic out…what’s our order going to look like?…who bats 1-2, Castro, DeWitt(yuck)…

Yikes! I sure hope not…I am hoping Quade bats him 7th or he is the Right-handed bat off of the bench…making him the most expensive back-up in the history of the universe..

And only half way through his contract!

Thanks for the reminder!! This is one of many reasons why Hendry needs to be done. He’s tied to Soriano and instead of admitting failure and cutting his losses, Hendry will keep running him out there and block the potential development of the minor league prospects. A new GM simply tells Ricketts, Soriano is a sunk cost, we need move toward the future.

You’re welcome. Excellent post, too! I’m surprised Ricketts didn’t get rid of Hendry as soon as he took control.

It’s true we got Jaramillo and Byrd from the Rangers last year for nothing going to them. But on the other hand we gave them Andres Blanco for a PTBNL. I never did find out what we got back. Ace and company… anyone know?

    1. Raymond Robert Koenig

I read that it was a PTBNL or cash. Not sure if the deal’s been completed.

I’m confused. Wouldn’t the Cubs have some say about sending Chirinos to the Rangers? How were the Rangers going to package him if the Cubs didn’t trade him?

That being said, Ace you are right that the Cubs paid full price, but more than anything, if the Rangers were going to trade Francisco, Holland, Beltre AND someone else, it just proves that full price for Garza was pretty damn high.
