Another day, another minor league deal and Spring Training invite.
This to former Chicago Cub rumor target, pitcher Braden Looper. You
may recall that the Cubs expressed some interest in Looper last year,
before he ultimately sat out the 2010 season. He was pretty rough in
2009 – 5.22 ERA as a starter for the Brewers – but he’s theoretically
healthy and will get a shot (as much of a shot as any non-roster
invitee gets) to make the Cubs’ bullpen as a long man.

thank god! i was so worried that cubs wouldnt have enough starters/long relief type guys in the pen. now if we could only find an aging over paid outfielder, we will be in business!

Lets offer the rest of our top prospects, Starlin Castro, and Byrd and trade for Vernon Wells!

With Looper outfielders should get plenty of rest. They can just stand and watch the ball go over thier heads and into the stands. And that’s with the wind blowing in.
