The biggest move this offseason in the NL Central, if not all of baseball (I know, I know, Cliff Lee), was the Brewers’ trade for Royal ace Zack Greinke. Combined with the addition of Shaun Marcum, and resident Brewer stud Yovani Gallardo, Greinke gave the Brewers the best rotation in the Central. You know, assuming health.

Oh, when we assume.

Ken Rosenthal isĀ reporting that Zack Greinke broke a rib a couple weeks ago playing basketball (most player contracts prohibit you from engaging in extracurricular sports…), and a recent MRI just confirmed the injury. Although it doesn’t sound terribly serious, the healing time can be as much as six weeks. At present, the Brewers are expecting Greinke to miss up to three regular season starts.
