A young man who entered Spring Training in a battle just to make the roster is now the National League’s Rookie of the Month for the first month of the season. Second baseman Darwin Barney, 25, won the award on the strength of a .326/.351/.449 slash line, along with 14 RBI and 15 runs scored.
Barney has also been above average defensively at second base, something the Cubs have been missing for a few years now.

I remember when i was NL Rookie of the month. We did it differently back then, i remember one time we made Bobby Hill eat a whole bag of cat shit mixed with LSD. Those were good times.
Ha. Bobby Hill.
In related news, Augie Ojeda is the employee of the month at an Applebees in Chandler, Az.
That is every kind of hilarious.
augie doggie!
is he still rehabbing or has he been released?
Still rehabbing, as far as I know.
where is bobby hill now?? lol
don’t forget about Gary Scott!! He was the answer two years in a row.
Gary Scott couldn’t hold Kevin Orie’s jock.
Nice but it was Orie’s glove that touched the single hit allowed in Woody’s 20K game…. Ah the “Ghost of Prospects Past”
here is Bobby Hill’s Wikipedia entry… it appears he is still playing, kinda
