Marlon Byrd Heads to Hospital After Being Hit in the Face with a Pitch

The photo, from the Chicago Tribune, is of a shaken Marlon Byrd, moments after he took a pitch off the brim of his helmet and then his face in tonight’s game. He immediately went to the ground, kicked his legs in pain, and was taken out of the game. Although he never lost consciousness, he suffered a gash on his face, and was taken to the hospital for observation and treatment.

Hopefully he’ll be ok, but it was a pretty scary moment.

Yeah that about how I feel this season… Every game feels line a fastball to the fast, but I sincerely hope that he is okay that was brutal.

really loved seeing the cubs pull off the w tonight. on the other hand, i’m pretty sick of looking at the pitching matchup and thinking that they are just conceding the game. now where this matchup isn’t the worst in the world compared to the prior four, an 0-4 record in russell’s four starts doesn’t instill any confidence. here’s to hoping for a big series win, but to knowing it probably won’t happen.
