Why, oh why, must the Cubs take the lead in games only to give it back the VERY NEXT HALF INNING? How many times has that happened this year? Well, I guess the answer is not too many, because, well, the Cubs haven’t taken too many leads. Nevertheless, it happened today, and it hacks me off.

Losing in extra innings is also never a treat.

And, of course…

Why didnt we just walk him. Seriously. I dont care how “bad” he has been, but he is pretty good against the Cubs. Its like I knew Shark would give up that homerun. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

  • awesome

wasn’t there talk of playing the kids once or if they fell behind 10 games?

  • Brian

I guess the season is over for me when a walk-off homer does not phase me… which happened today.

We should send Pujols an Edible Arrangement if Hendry gets the boot after this series.

    • Jamesjones

Ha. I have to agree. The frustration I used to feel is just numbness now. As dramatic as that sounds, Im just sick of it.

    • Ace

      Ha. Thank you for that.

I rarely jump to such dramatic statements but something dramatic has to happen for someone other than Hendry conducting our fire sale – the Cubs need to go downhill even faster than they are now, or, well, we’re going fast enough now I guess…..
      But that’s funny cos it’s true…

      • Michigan Goat

Maybe the commish can step in to manage us through this period of suckitude

  • al

said it before and ill say it again…. dump the damer!!

  • Hogie

This team is bad, but the leadership is worse. Hendry had better not get a third chance to rebuild this team, and Quade…grrrrr…Quade is useless. I really wanted to like him, and tried for a long time, but he is way overwhelmed. Big Z was right on the money, whether that’s what he meant or not – “What manager?”

    • Deez

I feel you on Quade. Seems like he has no clue & doesn’t have any continuity . It makes me happy not to see Ryno in this situation.

    • awesome

      what manager? very true.

  • Tanner

When will the Cubs win another series? I don’t think so until after the next two weeks. This sucks, how bad of a summer is this going to be? There are now two questions that come to mind. 1) When will the fire sale start? 2) Will they loose 100 games?

    • Michigan Goat

I can honestly see us losing 100 games, I’m so tired if this team having only one decent inning a game.

      • http://www.frenchrocks.net Ian Afterbirth

We need to lose 100 games before the trading deadline to do any good….

        • Michigan Goat

          Hehehe, let’s go for it

          • Ace

There does come a point – still not sure we’re there yet – where rooting for losses, in the long term, makes more sense than rooting for wins. Of course, it’s easier said than done – it’s hard to root against the Cubs, even if it’s for their own good.

            • http://www.frenchrocks.net Ian Afterbirth

Don’t get me wrong Ace – I can’t root for losses.
But sitting here in Vermont not actually seeing the games I can hope that Hendry is fired before any rebuilding is done.

  • Raymond Robert Koenig

Whatever happened to “if the Cubs are 10 games out by …..”?

    • Michigan Goat

Well there was obviously fine print we all missed: 1-during a lunar eclipse 2-if Hendry accidentally wears two left shoes 3-Ricketts discovers he has balls 4-Some team actually wants any of our old expensive players. This debt situation is really making me think that no move will be made that cost us money….. ARGGGGGH

    • Ace

I suspect that it’s still in effect.

      • Raymond Robert Koenig

I’m still of the opinion that Ricketts will maintain the status quo. He’ll let Hendry finish out this year and next as though he’s done an acceptable job.

  • RW

OK. I yelled in the 6th to walk him on 4 pitches– The result; a double and then he scores the tying run on the subsequent single.
I yelled in the 12th to walk him – The result, the game is over.
I may not have my basebll PhD, but letting that guy beat you again and again .. Unacceptable…..

    • Jeff

Three times that man turned the game to the Cardinals favor with one swing. I would have thought anyone would have learned, especially after the first two game changing at bats, to not pitch to the most dangerous hitter on the planet when the game is on the line. Quade keeps taking responsibility for his messed up game decisions, but when is he going to start learning from his mistakes and quit costing this team games? The worst part of this? Hendry and Ricketts probably are both now convinced that Pujols is the lone missing ingredient from a winning Cubs team.

      • Ace

The Cubs do have a penchant for signing/trading for guys that have beat them over the years.

  • Michigan Goat

Pujol + AB vs Cubs = kick in da nuts

    • Michigan Goat

Now coughing my nuts out of my mouth

      • Ace

Pujols says the same thing every night. Oh yes. I’m mature when I’m angry.

        • Michigan Goat

          LMFAO That made my evening.

  • RW

    OK..
He friggin did it again on Sunday.
How the F can this keep happening?
YOU WALK HIM EVERY FRIGGIN TIME!!!!!
