Bleacher Nation has been given another opportunity to host an exclusive, one-day, FREE fantasy baseball contest through DraftStreet.com, this Friday, June 17. For those of you who didn’t play last time, this is your chance to win some cash. For those of you who played last time and got stomped – like me – this is your chance for redemption.

The best part? The total payout for this free contest is $150 – and five people win cash. And, by participating, you’re supporting Bleacher Nation – which would be all kinds of appreciated. Think of it this way: you get 365 days of free content from me, and in return, I ask only that you sign up for a free, cash-winning fantasy baseball contest. Sounds fair to me.

Ok. So what is the contest?

It’s a one-day fantasy baseball showdown based on MLB games this Friday, June 17 (beginning with the Cubs/Yankees tilt at 1:20 CST (2:20 EST)).

Here’s how you play: First, sign up for free at DraftStreet. It’s easy. Then, from there, you fill your roster (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF, 2 U, 2 SP, RP, P) using a budget of $100k. Player salaries are set by DraftStreet based on fantasy production. So, for example, if you want to put Roy Halladay on the mound, it might cost you $16k, which means you’ll have to find some bargains to fill out the rest of your squad. The contest runs on Friday using Friday’s games, so here’s a tip: pick players who are, you know, actually playing on Friday.

Sign up now for free. Build a team (you can adjust your roster up until the 2:20pm (EST) game starts (which is the Cubs/Reds game, for the record)). Then check out the scoreboard when the games start on Friday, June 17, and watch your team win you cash. Or watch my team destroy yours. It’s that easy, and it’s a heck of a lot of fun.

The sooner you sign up, the more time you’ll have to tinker with your lineup, which is a big part of what makes this so much fun. Just putting it out there. Feel free to talk your team up in this or subsequent posts on the subject.

Better still, if you make a deposit and use the code “bleacher25,” they’ll give you $25 in free bonus cash.

I can’t wait to lose to you jerks all over again.

Killed me that I was tied for 1st after the day games were done, too. I think I ended up like 225th place or something…

Geovany Soto killed me. I was at like -5 points after the first game, never recovered. Ended up thoroughly middle of the pack.

  • wernert

I was murdered during the first contest (yes, took Soto as well as many other players who weren’t playing, literally or figuratively) and I can’t wait for this one. You are aces, Ace.

The lesson we should have learned months ago: don’t draft any Cubs.

  • MichiganGoat

Well I joined up and just drafted, I’ve never had luck with fantasy sports. But it will be fun to compete… and the concept is extremely fun and will give me plenty of time to waste this summer.

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Ace

Yeah, I try not to pimp things too hard, but I honest-to-goodness think this concept is freaking smart. Wish I’d thought of it.

      • MichiganGoat

I think they’re the pimp… which makes you… well it least your a high class one :0

  • MichiganGoat

Oh and they really need an ipad/iphone app, the draft room doesn’t exactly work without a computer and I rarely use my computer these days.

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Ace

Hmm. I’m kind of surprised they don’t have one yet – they are a pretty technologically-savvy company.

(says the guy whose site doesn’t have an app yet, either)

Sweet! I’m gonna smoke all you fools, esp. if you can’t read the draft room!

I’m so much more into these 1-day contests than I would be a full season. I can not imagine how much of a time suck that would be. I remember doing it by hand for like a month with my friends in ~7th grade, pulling out the Trib, scoring the stats, waiting for the next damn day for the west coast games’ boxes… ugh.

      • http://www.bleachernation.com Ace

We should still do it that way. I’ll review the newspapers on Saturday and let you know how you did…

Doug Davis was definitely my first pick!!!!

You get bonus points for a WHIP > 2.0.
