Reed Johnson, whose return from the DL with back issues was delayed by a ball to the head, was activated just in time for tonight’s game against the Brewers (paperwork about his concussion clearance took a bit longer than expected). He’ll play center field and bat eighth.

In a corresponding move, the Cubs sent Tyler Colvin back to AAA Iowa. Although Colvin had finally started to pick up a hit here and there, the move is probably the right one – he’s not helping the Cubs right now, so he probably should be getting regular starts in the minors.

“[H]eā€™s not helping the Cubs right now, so he probably should be getting regular starts in the minors.”

DJ LeMahieu and I had a good laugh over that. Even Tony Campana was heard to chuckle.

I am assuming – such a dangerous enterprise with respect to the Cubs – that LeMahieu goes down when Soriano comes back.

Yeah, that .228 batting average would have come in handy about now with the other 7 outfielders trying to find playing time and all.

Yup, this team really should have held onto more AAAA type outfielders that moonlight as superheros. We could be playing outfield bingo every night.

I really hope the phones are ringing right now on ARam, and that Jimbo and ARam are listening to offers. He is obviously heating up and the time to trade is now! And Cub Nation and management don’t let this fool you into thinking ARam is the man. I’d love to see him get traded while he hot so I can remember him fondly.

    CUBS WIN!!!!

  • ramin

Ya they won but they go on anothr 2 and 8 in 10 games. The biggest problem with this team is that they never carry any momentum and use these two great wins to start something good
