Enhanced Box Score: Marlins 6, Cubs 3 – July 14, 2011

Matt Garza started off the second half with a phenomenal start. He wasn’t very economical with his pitches, but he had some good stuff, struck out plenty, and didn’t let anyone score. That’s plenty good for me.

Marlon Byrd went deep for the first time since he’s been back, and Geovany Soto had himself another good night, going 4-4. All was well heading into the 9th, with the Cubs blissfully up 2-0.

And then Carlos Marmol happened. He walked the bases loaded on just 13 pitches, and, with Mike Quade sitting on his hands, Carlos found the strike zone just long enough to give up a bases-clearing double. I would have been more upset of the Cubs weren’t simply following the script.

Is there any prospect that blows everybody else away in this years draft.

Cubs will definitely get a good draft pick after this season, but dont expect that to help. Jim Hendry has been GM since 2002 and of the 9 1st round picks he made ZERO of them are currently up on the big club playing at Wrigley. Cashner will be back soon (We hope) but that is still a 1 for 9 record. This guy has about as good a 1st rd pick history as a certain other Chicago GM up at Hallas Hall. Ugggggghhhhhh, crap

Can someone please explain to me why, after the Cubs throw tons of money at a player, they SUCK shortly there after?
