Recently, I had a rough night. I wasn’t able to get to sleep until about midnight, and then my baby daughter shot up at 2 a.m., refusing to go back to sleep for more than two hours. I squeezed in another few hours of sleep, but my day starts at 7 a.m.

I felt like total crap that next day. Barely functional. Somehow, in the first few months of my daughter’s life, that kind of erratic sleep was not only sufficient, but, frankly, netting five hours would have put a smile on my face for a week. Somehow now, it tore me up.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I’ve agreed that, if you all donate the costs of hosting this site (approximately $480 per year), I will blog at the trade deadline from 6pm CT on Saturday, July 30 until 6pm CT on Sunday, July 31 – shortly past the MLB nonwaiver trade deadline. That’s 24 straight hours of blogging.

And, based on the first week of donations, I’m f’d. If can barely function on five, broken-up hours of sleep, how am I going to be posting frantic trade rumors at 4pm on July 31 on zero sleep?

But, this is the life I’ve chosen. And you guys responded – heartily – by donating more than half of the requested amount in the first week alone (we’re about 2/3 of the way there). That means there’s plenty of time to eclipse the goal before the trade deadline.

If you’d care to throw some bones my way, and force me to go completely insane at the trade deadline (which, I should caution, could negatively impact both the clarity of, and speed of, my insight on that baseball holiday), you can donate by clicking on this here button:

And, for those of you who’ve already donated, here’s a puppy expressing my feelings:

Sweet. I’m excited to hopefully be the one to push it over the edge! (It being both the monetary goal and your sanity).

Had to fight paypal last week. Finally got it figured out, funds should be transferred in “3-5 days.”

    Then, on to you.

Well, if it’s anything like the Cubs, you’ll suck there for two months, but never be moved.
