With the Cubs riding a two-game win streak, up 3-2 in the 8th of a game started by Matt Garza, you just knew the bullpen was totally going to nail it down, AMIRITE? I keep saying it, but it keeps happening: Matt Garza is going to murder someone in the bullpen one of these days.

Geovany Soto and Marlon Byrd each had a huge game, and outside of Jeff Samardzjia, the bullpen was solid. When Jeff Baker drilled a walk-off single, the Cubs swarmed him like they just won the pennant.

Quick trade Byrd while he looks good!

this was WS atmosphere, we can play with these guys. keep Cassie, Sori, Rami, and Fuku, keep Z, Gio, Dem, and hilly, extend the contracts of Quade and Hendry, 7 yrs each. 3 in a row, wow.

i wouldnt blame garza for taking a bat to every shitbag in our bullpen. what a crock of shit, i feel for garza bigtime. however, at least we can say we finally won three in a row! woo hoo!

Something is wrong with the linescore. Houston scored 1 in the 5th and 2 in the 8th but they ended up with 4.

    • Not John

1 in the first but it isnt shown becasue the game went ten innings

  • Ralph

    3 in a row!!!!

Does Matt Garza EVER win the games he starts? Effin’ bullpen.

Matt strikes me as the kind of guy who understands that pitcher win-loss stat is silly and somewhat useless. That being said, im sure he’s pissed when the team squanders his efforts and ultimately loses his games. in this case, the offense was able to come back and get it done and i expect that gives garza a little piece of mind. of course, the bullpen, who we all know sucks, is particularly suck-y on days when garza pitches his ass off. its really unfair but decidedly cub-like.
