I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter – for 24 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. The plan is to do a little recap like this periodically through the day. We’ll see if the “plan” still holds by hour 20 when I’m starting to suspect my keyboard might be chocolate.
And, yes, things are starting an hour earlier than previously planned. Upon reflection, although deals do come out a couple hours after the deadline passes, three hours seems a bit much. So, instead, I’ll go two hours past the deadline.
News and Rumors Since the Last Recap:
None. This is the first recap, dude. The good news is that nothing much happened while I was taking my pre-Blogathon siesta. The bad news is that nothing much happened while I was taking my pre-Blogathon siesta.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
Yeah, these will make more sense when it’s not the first recap.
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
I understand that Aramis Ramirez, Carlos Zambrano, and Alfonso Soriano are nearly impossible to move for a variety of reasons, but Kosuke Fukudome can’t seriously be it, can he?
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Coke Zero. We’re starting out simple and calorie-free.
Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
Because my sleep schedule is all jacked up, I’m crazy tired already. I’m in trouble.
