I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter – for 24 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. The plan is to do a little recap like this periodically through the day/night. We’ll see if the “plan” still holds by hour 20 when I’m starting to suspect my keyboard might be chocolate.

Tiredness hit me hard in the last hour or so. I’m not sure if it’s the lack of action (and the commensurate drop in adrenaline) or just the lack of sleep. But, either way, the Sandman has slapped me in the face. Only twelve hours to go.

News and Rumors Since the Last Recap:

Nothing in the Cubs’ world. I put together some bits about the Cubs holding onto Matt Garza, and maybe making some minor moves today, but there’s just not much action right now.

Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:

Jim Hendry has suggested that the Cubs could be major players in the free agent market after the season. Hooray! Then again, in doing so, Hendry also suggested that he’ll be around after the season.

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:

I guess the Cubs aren’t the only crummy team that appears to be holding onto players with little justification.

Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:

Exercise. I’m hoping that staying active will keep me up and alert until the sun comes up.

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:

You know, some of Lady Gaga’s songs really aren’t that bad.

Goat and PFC and toosh might be asleep, but I’m still up. Drinking, losing money on cub bets: I’m here to keep you accountable! Keep blogging mister!

How are you possibly still going? I mean both in terms of drinking and being awake? You must have tiger blood.

Sleep deprivation is terrible thing. Let this be a lesson to all you kids out there – don’t try this at home!

I’m on the edge of glory!

Side effect of sleep deprivation? My use of exclamation points is going through the roof!

I thought this was going to be out of control by now, but not approving of Lady Gaga type crazy. Keep up the solid work, Brett.

I think this verifies that anyone who took the under on yesterday’s bet is a winner.

What was the over set at? For the record, I heard the current Lady Gaga radio song at about 2am, and that’s when it occurred to me that it wasn’t terrible. If that helps nailed down the O/U.

Somebody was very optimistic and set the over at noon.

              • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

Oh, wow. Yeah. No. No. No, no, no.

Although, I gotta say – I’m feeling relatively normal right now. A little tired. But normal. Just a little into Gaga.

                • Jeff

I don’t think people who are going crazy are aware of it happening. If you are normally prone to things like being into Lady Gaga, we have nothing to worry about(well, almost nothing). If this is a new development, you may be succumbing to the throws of madness.

                  • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

                    Well that’s a Hobson’s choice.

I have to admit to being crazy, or being into Lady Gaga.

                    Clearly, it’s the madness.
