How could anyone not help when being asked by a cute, pleading kitten?
If you’re a fan of Bleacher Nation, take 10 seconds and nominate it for the “Best Team-Specific Site” award here. The award is being presented at the fourth annual Blogs with Balls conference, which is a really big deal in this corner of the Internet. They do good work, and I’d be honored to be considered for one of their awards.
With enough nominations from folks like you, Bleacher Nation could qualify as a finalist for the award, which would help to continue developing our ever-growing community. Yup, I dropped the “community” bomb. We’ve got one of the smartest, largest, and funniest groups of readers and commenters around here, and I want people to know about it. Becoming a finalist for this award wouldn’t just help me, personally, it will turn the eyes of some of the best and brightest on to our community – and I think they’ll like what they see. That can only help all of us.
And spread the word, if you don’t mind. Maybe your friend likes Bleacher Nation and wouldn’t mind dropping a nomination. Perhaps your wife appreciates what we do.
And, of course, if there is anyone else you’d like to nominate, go for it.
Thanks to those who’ve already dropped a nomination – don’t worry about doing it again. Duplicate nominations from the same people are neither welcome nor helpful.
Gracias.

Happy to do it Ace. You’re the best. Done.
Thanks, CC.
I voted for you guys, I love this site..can’t wait till we can talk about more positive things like Hendry and Quade’s dismissals though..
Thanks, Lou. Ditto.
Done
Thanks, dreese.
Done and Done
Thanks and thanks.
I’ve got a few different e-mail accounts I could use. Could I vote again if I do that?
While I totally appreciate the sentiment, I want to keep it legit. So, again, while I appreciate the offer, no need to do multiple nominations.
(Jeff – to that end, I axed your comment. I hope you understand. And again, totally and completely appreciate the thought.)
Okay, I was joking anyway, but my humor comes across wrong sometimes I guess. Sorry.
Ah, my bad. I jumped the gun. Sorry about that – and, again, huge thanks.
Aw, but I had a great Gary Varsho response all ready…
Oh well. I also nom’d you for the Best Sports Site – Writing Quality category, ’cause the Best Team-Specific Site category seemed so, well, obvious. Like, there are *other* Cubs blogs? Unlikely.
Ha. Thanks, TWC.
Absolutely
Didn’t mean to offend, just enthousiastic, but your response only makes me like you, and this site even more.
Classy
Thanks, Hogie. No offense taken in the least. The thought was what counted.
Done. Good luck.
Thanks, Cheryl.
done
Thanks, MB.
Done.
Toosh with the scoop. Thanks.
Done! Keep up the great work!
Awesome. Thanks, Zbo.
Things that I like do not win much (the Cubs) but I have a pretty damn good feeling about this.
Hey, thanks Brian. I hope you’re right.
Need Twitter info and Bretts last name
Twitter is @BleacherNation, and my last name is Taylor. Huge thanks, Derek.
Is it too late to donate to the site?
If you want to give, it’s never too late! Just follow the paypal link in this post: http://www.bleachernation.com/2011/07/21/brace-yourself-for-24-hours-of-blogging-at-the-trade-deadline/
Thanks, Eric. That’s awesome of you.
More than happy to donate, just wish i could give more. By far my favorite site.
Thanks, Eric. Seriously. Very cool of you.
I’m in too!
Awesome! Thanks, Ralph.
Brett,
Done, been reading a couple of weeks now and really enjoy your site. Thanks!
Sweet. Thanks, pdx.
done
Thanks, pb. I kept meaning to ask about your name, because I didn’t get the reference. And I just Googled it. Nice.
Just submitted my vote!!! Keep up the great work!!!!
Thanks, PB.
Done. Just wanted you to know I found this site recently and I think it’s great.
Thanks, Derek, and glad you enjoy.
Done. Not even a cat fan.
Ha. Thanks – even though it’s just impossible not to like that kitty-witty-wittle-guy….
…oh God. I’ve said too much.
I take care of 5.
Derrek and the Don’t -You-Knows!
The instrumental at the end of ‘Layla’ is as good as it gets.
Agreed. I was referring to Lee’s HR against the Cubs.
Lots of love in the comment section for Bleacher Nation too. Good luck on the award. I hope this works out, and everyone recognizes your work. It is nice to have a blogger with some wit who is as sickly dedicated to this whole mess of a baseball team as the rest of us. It also gives us a great place to voice our opinions among those who similarly suffer and celebrate with us.
Thanks for that, Jeff. Like I always say, this place is as much a credit to you guys as it is to me. Without the readers/commenters of the caliber we have, I doubt it would be 10 percent as enjoyable.
The only way it could be more fun is if it was the blog for, you know, a good team.
Would you say we have “Chemistry?”
So, that’s why this place is succeeding!
Totally. It’s all the chemicals. Chemistry? What? That’s what I said. Bold changes. Indeed.
The right chemicals can make anyone happy.
Two references in one comment!
done. when is the nomination process over, do you know?
Thanks, Spencer. They’ve said it runs through this week. Then they decide on the finalists (fingers crossed), and then everyone votes on the winner. You will all have to excuse me bugging you again (this time for votes in the finals) if BN becomes a finalist.
That’s 2 for Derrek and The Don’t-You-Knows. I think Woody might have served one up on purpose.
Ditto Z…
I did it when you first asked, and I got my dad to do it yesterday after showing him the site. All it takes is one look at your Chik-Fil-A saga to see your immense dedication (and hilarity).
Ha, thanks Glen. Love the name, by the way – is it, by chance, in reference to the rooftop shot?
It definitely is! I remember it happening and just absolutely freaking out when I was younger. One of my best early Cubs memories.
That was an incredible shot. Too bad he was juicing.
LALALA I KNOW NOT WHAT YOU SPEAK OF LALALA
Oh, totally on the juice.
I just read earlier this summer, someone re-analyzed the shot with weather factors and all that new fangled technology and declared it a 500 footer, even. Pretty sweet! He coaches first here in Denver, and I’ve tried to get his attention a couple times. Yelling shit like “oh that ones over Waveland” when a ball is well struck. I’ve never been able to get him to turn around. Maybe he doesn’t remember, maybe the roids fried his long term data center. Oh well, it was one of my favorite moments in the cubs recent history.
I saw him at a game at Wrigley when the Rockies were in town a while ago and I wanted to get his autograph WAY more than anyone on the actual team. How lucky is he that, in a career that pretty much defined “mediocre journeyman”, he hit one of the most memorable homers in Cubs history?
Done
Thanks, Gyeva.
Done.
Thanks, Phil.
Dunne. Ooops! Done. Well, I guess they both mean the same thing…
Thenx, Cub5. See what I did there?
Ace, I did it. But only because you actually convinced your wife to blog for 24 hours + and I could convince mine. Just kidding, (sort of). You the man, this is the only Cubs site I follow. You work on prospects is awesome.
Thanks, ron. Happy to oblige.
just wanted to say i used to search for a read a lot of different cubs sites and blogs well i dont anymore. this is the only place i need to go thanks for the great work. and oh yeah done
Thanks, FHAQ. Glad to provide what you’re looking for.
Oh great news.
I’m looking for a 20′s something hottie who is perpetually dressed in lingerie, loves to spin wrenches on old cars, digs riding on the back of, and washing the oil off, rigid motorcycles, and can watch 6 to 8 hours of baseball and actually enjoy & intelligently discuss it. I don’t care if she cooks or cleans; I’m not a sexist pig, as long as she has a trust fund.
Can you oblige?
btw, done!
I have found someone who fits all of that criteria. I can pass along her info asap.
One thing, though. She obsessively watches ‘The Nanny.’ That’s still fine, right?
I am a Cub fan from Germany and I found this site recently – posts and comments are funny / smart as hell. Really like it and gonna continue reading it. It goes without saying that I voted for your blog…
Thanks, Siquo. We’ve gone international!
