Casey Coleman’s outing actually bested his previous effort – against the AAAstros – which isn’t saying much. The Cubs’ offense (with a little help from the Braves’ defense) managed to dig out a bit from the Coleman-induced hole, but couldn’t make it all the way back. Once again, the Cubs were brutal with runners on base.
Not all the Cubs stunk, though…

And, yet, it is…
This was not a “Coleman-induced hole”. That 5 run inning shouldn’t have ever happened – it should’ve been a 1-2-3 inning, except Ramirez rushed a play that let the inning continue. The inning should’ve been over. And I can’t believe that wasn’t an error on Ramirez. If it was, all of Coleman’s runs would’ve been unearned. Yes, he still gave up the grand slam, but it’s a lot harder to pitch when you have to record four or five outs in an inning.
If they’re going to get you, they’re going to get you. He could have just as easily given up the fiver in the next inning. I’m just grousy, I guess.
That Soriano at-bat against Vizcaino was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Period. That’s including 20 years of little league, middle school, high school, travel, and college baseball. If only he would use a normal sized bat… He’d be so much quicker to the ball, and wouldn’t have to decide before the pitch that he’s going to swing, just to be able to have a chance at making contact
In other news, it’s time to get LaHair up here. Whether or not scouts think he can play in the bigs, he’s putting up video game numbers down in Iowa. 4 doubles in a game? Lolz. 1.071 OPS? Thank you sir, may I have another. That guy can’t be making it any more clear that he wants to be in Chicago
I’m sure he’ll be up when rosters expand, but don’t get your hopes up. He’s been up before and tanked.
For Seattle, in 2008, for 136 at-bats. I say he should get another shot, but Quade won’t play him unless he has no other choice.
He’s also not on the 40-man, so the Cubs will have to clear a spot for him first. And then, after he sits on the bench for a month with the Cubs, he’ll be released to open the spot back up.
plus under quade he won’t get much playing time.
another day another pathetic loss by these bumbs, but hey look on the bright side, one step closer to both the end of this season and quade as a manager. fucking horrible at bats once again by pena and byrd with risp; team is so pathetic with runners on it is comical! thank god we are keeping brett jackson down in the minors in favor of continuing to have to watch byrd look like total shit game after game. but i am sure the dumbass keeps smiling after every one of his weak at bats!
On the bright side the Iowa Cubs tied a franchise record with 10 doubles in last night’s game. Bryan LaHair had 4 of his own to raise his season average to .335. Not bad considering he leads the league in HR’s at 34 and is two off the lead in RBI (100.)
He’s certainly making the PCL his bitch.
I wish someone would claim Pena, I’m done with his shit. Can’t even make contact with the bases loaded.
pena needs to focus less on talking about chemistry and making the clubhouse one happy family and start earning his freakin 10 mil by driving in runs, which is what he was brought here to do!
