Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 0, Giants 4 – August 31, 2011

It’s a series win, but the Cubs didn’t have much of anything today against Madison Bumgarner. The lefty gave up just two hits and two walks over eight innings, while striking out 11. And that was against an all right-handed lineup.

And now, may I present: Pitching, by Rodrigo Lopez…

Gee, Brett, do you think a competent manager would realize that the league is hitting over 0.400 off Lopez after his first 60 pitches, and, perhaps take him out of the game before he gets to that point?

  2. Toosh

The Cubs would need a competent manager first.

Remember, it was a day game, which messes up *everything* for the Cubs.

Plus, it was probably cool too.

I was positively apoplectic when Rodrigo Lopez’s name was called to lead off the top of the 6th inning.  It was just absolutely incomprehensible.  Oh well.

Fun time at the game today with my boy and wife.  Weather was beautiful – sunny with a nice breeze off the bay.  I must have spent $100 on Snow Cones, lemonades, and hot dogs though.  The $9.75 beers are a not-insignificant factor, too.

yeah its bothersome.  kinda looks like he’s falling apart.  at this point in the season especially, and this being he first full year, he should be sitting way more often.  how can quade not see this shit?

      1. MichiganGoat

He absolutely should be resting befor or after off days and get those rest days, if he plays Friday Quade is… Well doing exactly what he has always done.

Like i said yesterday if Lopez only had to face a lineup one time through to win a game he would win the CY Young award … However that is not the case and he gets ROCKED everytime the second time around… After Striking out Torres in the 3rd or 4th ( i cant remember) he just couldnt get people to swing and miss any more… and its like that every start… BUT i have the solution MOVE HIM TO THE PEN!!!!!
