It’s never too early to start thinking about next year, particularly when those thoughts might require planning a Spring trip.

To that end, today the Chicago Cubs released the team’s 2012 Spring Training schedule. From the team’s official release:

The Cubs begin their 2012 Cactus League schedule Sunday, March 4 against the Oakland Athletics at HoHoKam Park. The Cubs play the first three days of their spring slate at home before heading to Surprise to play their first road game at Kansas City on Wednesday, March 7.

The Cubs will make their annual trip to Las Vegas for a two-game weekend series March 17-18 against a to-be-determined opponent. The Cubs close out the spring on Tuesday, April 3 vs. the Milwaukee Brewers at HoHoKam Park. Additionally, the Cubs and White Sox square off twice next spring – Friday, March 9 in Glendale and Sunday, March 18 at HoHoKam.

Hey Brett, new poster but long time reader. Love the site. Just curious though… Approximately how much is admission to spring training games? I have never had the opportunity to go due to school and sports; however, being a first year teacher that lucked out with not having to coach spring sports, I now have the opportunity.

$5 for outfield lawn seats.  Best seats in the house.

But a couple years ago, my wife, son and I picked up 3 1st-row, 3rd base side seats (during the 1st inning from a scalper looking to cut his losses and go home) for $20 (total) during the bottom of the 1st inning. That was pretty awesome.

Earlier in Spring Training season, the better.  Fewer crowds, more fun.
