Quantcast

I’ll be in Chicago next week – Wednesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 17 – to take in the Cubs/Phillies games those days at Wrigley Field, in the bleachers. I’ve got an extra ticket to Thursday’s game (7:05 CT), and, since I’m hopelessly needy, I’d like to offer up that ticket to anyone who wants to be my friend at the game. You needn’t actually talk to me, or even look at me. But you must sit within five rows of me, and you must act like you know me when I wave (which I will do at least once every three innings).

Look at that mug. How could you not want to hang with me?

In all seriousness, I just want to give the ticket away to someone who really wants to go to the game. So, if you want the ticket, here’s what you do. Go to the Message Board, and find this thread about the contest. There, simply say why I should give you a ticket (yes, you’ll have to join the Message Board to post). Think you would offer great conversation? Would give me the home run ball to throw back in? Are very handsome? Whatever the reason I should choose you, offer it up. I’m easily impressed.

I’ll choose the winner by Sunday at 2pm, so get crackin’.

What if we already have a ticket but still want to be your friend at the game? I am a pretty good waver…(as in waving to people, not as in doing the wave)

Hey, man, if you’re already going to be there, that’s awesome – we can all hang.

  • Serious Cubs Fan

I would love to go Brett! I’m in college and I finish up taking my finals Tuesday! And this would be a much needed break from school! I would really owe you. I’d buy you a beer and talk about all the stupid stuff you did in college and just chill out and drink a few to many oldstyles together and have a good time

Awesome, but make sure to put in in the Message Board thread – that’s where I’m keeping track.

For those of you coming in from out of town, next week is going to be a bit crazy in Chicago. The NATO Summit is here starting 5/18, but they are expecting thousands of protesters to be ‘occupying’ the city in advance. Many (most?) businesses in the loop are closing from the 18th-21st. I wouldn’t expect it to affect the game itself, but getting there could be a problem as they expect delays on public transportation and bad traffic. And anyone going to the Cubs/Sox series that weekend – good luck.

Although come to think of it: thousands of unruly and violent people – seems quite apropos that we’re playing Philly. That’s just another day in the City of Brotherly Love.

  • Deez

Dude, I’m in DC & it’s hard to get away. If anyone’s in the area Labor Day weekend this year, I GOTS YOU!

  • Rob

Brett I am the biggest cubs fan in the whole world and You know that you would have a good time with me at the game. Most of the cubs games I go to the cubs win. I can even keep the scorecard for you. I will even say LaDicoulous once or twice for you. Also I will laugh at Juan Pierre’s throwing arm.

  • Katie

Please. Everyone knows Brett likes me best.

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

      These are facts.

      • Katie

See? Thank you everyone for playing.

And this is NOT a dating site.

  • Drew7

This has too much of a “Dating Game” feel for me.

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

      Then you’re getting the idea.

(Though in seriousness, I think hansman and hardtop can verify that it was a lovely, non-weird time.)

      • hansman1982

speak for yourself bubba, it was a terrible time, I wanted to vomit the whole car ride back to Des Moines and had to delouse myself…

Although, I think that had more to do with the fact the Cardinals beat the Cubs than you.

In all seriousness, it was a great time and a great way for Brett to mingle amongst the commoners. The encouraging of DeJesus, the heckling of that crappy RF wearing grey, meeting Al from BCB and the whole day was a lot of fun. It also reminded me that the traffic in Des Moines aint got shit on the traffic in Chicago.

      • Drew7

I’m just giving you a hard time, I’m sure its a blast

  • Edwin

    Brett,

Choose me. I’m a regular guy, I like sports, I watch tv. I can read, but I also know that finishing an entire book doesn’t prove anyting. Plus, I’m in to architecture.

Note: I can’t actually go. Which is why I’m not entering it in the message board thread.

Brett you really need to pick your games better. None so far have lined up with my schedule. How inconsiderate of you. Ha ha. Have a great time.

      My bust.

      • Diesel

It’s all good. But this is one of the many good things about this site. The community feel. Plus all the cubs stuff doesn’t hurt either.. Thanks for the site Brett.
