The Cubs will look to keep their series loss-less streak alive (I really wish they hadn’t tied those two series, so I could just say “series winning streak” – so much cleaner) by heading up to Miller Park for a three-game set with the Brewers. The teams are tied at the bottom of the NL Central, so this is clearly a huge match-up.

Matt Garza returns to the rotation tonight after a bout of the flu(like symptoms). The Cubs’ lineup has four of the five bench players in it, largely because Dale Sveum wants to load the lineup with righties against lefty Randy Wolf. Sveum probably knows Wolf’s tendencies pretty well, so I’ll trust his instincts.

The game’s on WGN, so if you’re hanging out tonight anyway, watch the game.

I know its early in the season but does anyone know our 9th inning W-L compared to last years total?

  • Jeff

    Here we go!!! 9th inning

  • John

Brett, you called the blown save.

  • Chris S

    Oh, shit.

  • Jeff

    There we go!!!

  • Njriv

If the Cubs dont win this game, its all on Sveum, obviously there is something wrong with Dolis.

    • Matt3

seriously I think you have a point here

  • Josh Z

Marmol sent the tone for the bullpen sucking it up yet again

  • ty

Six or seven fast balls knee high to Hart–come on-this is the majors.

  • Matt3

    what a great game though

  • Rick Vaughn

Front row Amy needs to cover up. She’s obviously distracting our bullpen.

  • Bret Epic

Games like these tell me I’m a true Cubs fan, not an alcoholic.

  • Josh Z

I feel like Dollis should not be out there again here in the 10th. Let’s hope he proves me wrong

  • ty

Brenly kept saying–Stewart has no chance with bunt with infield charging . Sveum and Listach and Quirk really blind on strategy.

    • Njriv

I like the part when Dolis lands awkwardly TWICE and they dont even think about checking on him.

    • drew

I hate the sac bunt as it is, but that was beyond a horrible idea. Nobody out, Stewart up, corner IF could practically smell Stewarts breath, 2-1(?) count…

  • ty

Who wants a glove and hat? Never mind!

    • Bret Epic

I concur, but at least he’s pitched 2 strikes in the inning now!

  • Rick Vaughn

    This team is killing me.

    • Bret Epic

I feel like I’ve got blue balls right now.

  • hardtop

    Come on lucky # 13!

  • Brett

It’s 1am here, and the daughter gets up at about 6. The Wife is running in the morning, so I’m on early baby duty. I’m going to die of tired.

    • Eric

Don’t let your wife catch you asleep on the couch with the baby! You know that’s whats gonna happen.

  • ty

It is 10 p.m. here and if we win–everybody to In and Out for burgers and fries–on the house.

  • Jeff

Wow, I could do better than Soriano, never seen a hitter looked so lost at the plate.

  • calicubsfan007

Well, at least Wood didn’t blow the game for the Cubs again. Almost did a couple of times though, an improvement though. Can’t Sori try to not strike out so much?

  • ty

ogie is in real trouble tonight for post=game breakdown!

  • Jeff

    Come On! Unlucky # 13

  • Rick Vaughn

Time to ship Lendy out of town.

    • hardtop

did anyone else think the shift was a little extreme.  lendy had to throw a ball in the zone after making bean salad with the first two guys?  i hate cory hart, i dont know why, he just annoys me… maybe it was the dyed beard.  only the cheater hitting the walk-off would have been worse.

gotta love milwaukee fans: axford saves 49 in a row, has a couple wild pitches and some bad defense played behind him, and they boo the guy.  what a bunch of ungrateful shit heads.  then the boos start coming for aramis.  after his error in the field, they boo him at his next at bat!?!  really? with a baserunner on, in the bottom of extra inning number X, when you need a hit from the guy, you’re going to boo him?  the cubs have a lot of boo birds, but at least they have some perspective (based on knowledge of the game of baseball).  i’m kind of glad i didnt have to go sit with those dipshits today.

      • CastrotoBarneytoLaHair

I can understand you questioning the alignment, but remember, recently, their (Dale and his staff) defensive alignment has been spot on, saving several runs in key situations. So we need to chalk that one up to “whatever”…
