Let’s go Cubs!!!! 3 in a row please….
This is the talk that that Sveum should give the Cubs today about winning streaks:

Ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats.
Yo Bartender! Jobu needs a refill!
And leave the bottle!
Watch out for the flying bat coming right to your head! (love major league)
Can you just imagine the look Theo’s going to give to Dombrowski when Garza mows down the side in the first? Garza could be leaving town with Detroit after this series.
Right after striking out the side to begin the game, looks that way so far
So if they make the trade in the 6th inning, does Garza get the win? Would this be the first time a pitcher beat his own team?
I really view the rest of this season as an audition for the rest of teams in the league. I have heard up to ten Cubs could be traded by the deadline, which seems a little high. But the players have to “play to win the game!” (Herm Edwards)
They are who we thought they were!!

Playoffs!

@Dave H and John: Nice (=
The MLB.com Gameday thing says Joe Mather is playing 3B tonight.
maybe a late scratch of Stewart?
Maybe Stewart was traded for prospects and is on a plane right now!!!!
Man…if one exclamation means you’re excited, I cant imagine what 4 means:)
Sorry for the absurdly unnecessary punctuation. I actually like Stewart and would hate to see him go (but, not that much).
I wish we could get that lucky. I think it’s his wrist, again!
He was scratched because of…..wait for it…..shocking…..a sore left wrist.
<redacted>
Why is Stewart still on the 25?…Yeesh
Garza for turner and Brenny Paulino….. Dreaming.
Tuner’s 21 and has a lot of growth left. Tigers often rush their pitching prospects something Theo and company won’t do.
Garza looks good tonight. For Dombrowski this is like passing up Turkey on Thanksgiving.
@ Taking: I would prefer Cast to Paulino. His numbers at Lakeland aren’t exactly appealing. And maybe Dombrowski is a vegetarian. (;
Heading to see Las Vegas 51s tonight. Ill get to see a lot of the Blue Jays top prospects so maybe I can give a good scouting report for you guys
Hey
Where is Pat Hughes on radio ??
Thanks
This might have been previously mentioned, but has anybody read where Soler would land in the Cubs top 20 prospects?
The consensus is anywhere from 1 to 3, along with Rizzo and Almora.
Thats what I have heard. Something like a 3, behind Almora and Rizzo.
I really can’t see Soto as a Cub anymore. I think he gets traded.
Probably right, Cleve and/ or Castillo are really the future for the Cubs. While guys like Hill and Soto are the past. Kinda depressing to think about in a sense, but Soto has quickly become the past and is really no longer a member of the future for the Cubs.
I dont know why but I just have this feeling that its Hill’s spot on the 40 man that Soler will end up taking
@nkniacc: I dont know about that. It seems that Hill always manages to end up on a Cubs roster. Fingers crossed, knocking on , etc. that it is Hill.
Remember when Cubs kept resigning Glenallen Hill only to trade him midseason. Glenallen will always be one of my favorite Cubs.
Longest homerun ive ever remembered at wrigley, by far.
Loved Glenallen Hill. Mammoth power. I still search youtube for some of his homers. Can never find any though. Just the way he would walk out of the batter’s box admiring his homers would give me goosebumps.

Nice! Thank you!
WOW !!! That is an amazing home run. Glenallen Hill actually hit it on the roof. Thank you so much for posting that link. I enjoyed watching that video more than any Cubs highlight so far this year.
Haha no problem bud, saw that live actually…I think I faked sick from school and caught this game
Not sure if Baez asked for this one by a slow HR trot or anything but he was 2-2 with a dinger and his very next at bat he was plunked… Anyone know if he was being a wild man again? He’s definitely fiery and I have to say I love seeing him give a rip where some players go through the motions these days
Well, the kid has been HBP 4 times already in 13 games, somehow I doubt this is coincidence.
I don’t mind fiery, but I don’t want the kid to get killed.
I’m with you on that. I do THink either way he’s going to be a stud
Quick question: Does anyone know where Pat Hughes is for this series? I am listening in on the radio….
Soriano, LaHair and Garza selling themselves tonight, looking good!
Spoke to soon….garza just gave up the lead.
Detroit may like what they see in Soriano, LaHair and Garza and decide to make a deal.
In minor league news, tonight Baez hit a home run. Immediately in his next AB, he got hit by a pitch.
There appears to be a trend here.
The trend being that Baez is awesome and will do whatever the #$@#$ he wants
Well said.
Who was the last Cub to get this type of ‘attention’ ? Sosa?
@djriz: Dont say that s word! Bad luck for the player that is compared to him.
That quote and Bryce Harper’s yesterday of saying “that’s a clown question bro” have easily been my 2 favorite lines of the season
Watching Bryce Harper’s swing makes me want to just tank every season for the next 30 years until another one like him comes along to be taken first overall.
I agree with that, I’m pretty sure had Hamilton not gotten ripped everyday in the minors I think their careers would look very similar. anyone Else see the comparison?
its a good way to keep that OBP up i guess haha.
I said that too a few post ago. Where you been:)
Ouch, can’t blame the offense tonight. Garza couldn’t throw it past Ray Charles at this point
You could tell that booted double-play ball by Mather really messed him up.
Let me preface by saying I am a fan of Matt Garza and think he would make a great building block for the future of the Cubs rotation. You know what’s coming…but, I am seeing a disturbing trend this year that makes me wonder whether he is worthy of status as a No. 2 man. It seems Garza has a difficult time overcoming defensive gaffes and is his own worst enemy when it comes to fielding his own position. He flat our grooved that pitch to Peralta after Mather booted the grounder and got dinked by Young. This seems to be happening quite a bit lately and he certainly isn’t increasing his stock every time he toes the rubber like Dempster as done. Color me concerned.
Word. Too bad we couldnt swap him weeks ago when he was looking good. I like him, but at his peak value he could have netted a couple decent starters. Boat may be missed. At this point we won’t get prospects thought of as well as those we gave up for him
Maybe the daily trade talks are playing with Garza’s mind.
Oh God, not Marmol!
In my best Tom Beringer voice, “you men Rick vauhn?”. This guy gives me an ulcer watching him
That is a good point.
Any player that’s been mentioned in trades would probably welcome some of it the way this team is going.
So much for the rally…
