My apologies for the massively late EBS, but, after the Cubs’ lovely victory over the villainous Red Sox, The Wife and I simply had to celebrate. So we did. For many hours. I had a great time meeting up with BN’ers Danny, Max, and Jim before/after the game, as well as ESPN’ers Wayne (Drehs) and Sahadev (Sharma). And the Cubs stepped on the Red Sox courtesy, in large part, of another brilliant outing by Ryan Dempster.

I’m liking the patience the Cubs are starting to display.

Brett, Luke, or anyone’s opinion. I have a few questions….
1- Now that Dempster has been lights out, really this whole year, Who do you think will net a bigger/more valuable haul, Garza or Dempster?
2- I live in Atlanta, and the Cubs visit Atlanta July 2-5th (a four game series) and I will be going to all four games. Anthony Rizzo i expected to be called up soon, any chance Rizzo makes his Cubbie Debut while in Atlanta? Or if not, will he be called up by then?
Thanks, Wrigley South. ( No joke, there’s always more Cub fans at the Braves game then there are braves fans.)

I’m not an expert on the matter, but I’d guess Garza would bring more back in a trade, as he has that extra year of control, you wouldn’t have to pay him as much for the rest of the year, and he’s a whole lot younger so you could extend him. And there’s that experience of pitching in the AL East.

If the Cubs want to make a splash, maybe they bring Rizzo up on Monday, June 25. They’d have the extra year of control, and it’s the start of a homestand, so it could help the bottom line. But just think, you’ll get to witness Rizzo’s first four road games in a Cubs uniform, and that’s pretty cool.

I’ll be at the game on the 4th sitting in the outfield, it would be nice to catch a Rizzo homer!
