The Cubs head out West for some Friday night fun. I’ve always liked Chase Field, at least on TV – the wall in center field, the pool in right, the roof. It just works for me.

Jeff Samardzija will look for his first dominant start in a month.

Where can I view an hours worth (of girls) from the Bud fan cam?

  • Jp

You know this is where I lose my mind. I’m still arguing with Doc over Sveum’s lack of either willingness or understanding of plating a left right left or right left right lineup consistently and then this happens. They have a late scratch on a LHP and we don’t adjust our lineup accordingly. Doc you are correct and this is a game where 1 run wouldn’t have made the difference but I’d still like to see him display the game management skills to know to bat his LH 1st baseman against the RHP. To break down tge stats Baker is 0-3 to this point and I guess we’ll never know what Lahair wouldve done even though to this point it couldn’t be any worse.

  • elephanthole

It’s 5-1 in the 7th. Send Valbuena home.

  • RicoSanto

My Post did not go thru. I said Thank God Hoyer brought up Rizzo last year.We would have NEVER got him in a trade.SD thought Alonso was better. He has 244ABs with 2 Hr.
What a huge mistake. When you bring up Rizzo ( The Italian Stallion), also bring up Vitters ,11 Hrs only 40Ks good RH Bat, and make a trade .Then there is less pressure on rizzo. Some kind of shake up

    • Vladimir

While I agree on Rizzo, it’s thanks to his struggles that we were able to buy low in essence on him. In a few years once we see what he is doing people will be saying how the hell did we get that kid for Cashner?

I disagree on Vitters. It’s not his time yet, he’s still young for his level and he needs to prove himself for a full year. Next year will be Vitters turn.

      • Jimmy james

Vitters definitely not ready for prime time this year, but we should all be encouraged by the progress this year…..people still down on him yet I often hear people touting prospects that ar e the same age in high a or double a

    • Tim

So call up Javier Baez and once the cubs sign almora bring him straight to the bigs too right?

      • RicoSanto

Vitters has been in the minors for 5 years,so you cant compare him to someone like Baez who has been in minors for only 1 year, and Almora is just out of high school. We need some RH Pop ..Release Jeff Baker
3months in the bigs may be better than 3 months in AAA

  • GoldFinch

Soto has “new commitment.” Now that’s funny!

  • Matty Ice

So in the good baseball department. Frank del Valle turned in the minor league pitching performance of the year for Daytona. He threw 6 perfect innings tonight k’ing 11. Edit: he hit 2 batters, but still an excellent line.

  • Cheryl

Brett, You said in your headline ‘we’ll try to focus on something other than Rizzo.’ Maybe it would do usall good to focus on something other than the cubs

  • R.E.S

Needed something to do during the game as watching us strand runners is getting a little old. So i looked up Jay Jacksons splits at baseball .com. As a starter 40inn 63hits 20bb 31k’s 9.23 era. As reliever 181/3 16hits 6bb 21k’s 1.99era. That doesn’t include 3inn 1 hit 3 k’s no runs or walks in relive tonight. Didn’t Yogi say this game is 90% half mental.

    • GoldFinch

      Mental mistake?

    • Vladimir

not quite there on the quote. He said it’s 90% mental, the other half is physical.

      • GoldFinch

        I’m not sure either.

      • Njriv

        Yogi Berra

  • GoldFinch

Time to take the team apart top to bottom! Oh wait, that’s what we’re doing!

  • GoldFinch

HaHaHa! Lets add another big screen and they will come!

    • Njriv

“Oh GoldFinch you are so hilarious!” – Said by no one ever.

Gentlemen, this is going to be a long season… Strap yourselves in… Still hoping for a “Major League”-esc miracle this season though. But I am realistic though about this seasons prospects (don’t mean the actual prospects, I mean opportunities). So far, this season feels like a morning after the big party. You feel like crap, you had no control of what happened last night, but you hope that it was worth it somehow in the end.

  • calicubsfan007

But let me make this clear, I will always be loyal to the Cubbies. I would go through a thousand years worth of this hangover for the chance of finally obtaining that elusive prize. The World Series for the Cubs is like the nerd/loser/nobody in highschool who wants to be with the star qb or the gorgeous cheerleader, I am full of analogies tonight/ this morning!
