Paul Maholm got slapped around in his short outing, and Bryan LaHair left an incredible eight men on base (each of David DeJesus and Starlin Castro went 4 for 5 at the top of the order). If you stayed up to watch the game, I apologize to you.

That's a bad sweep, folks.

Why it's a lot tougher to sell guys for value now than you might think, even if they offer their new team more starts in 2013.

It turns out the Cubs might not have done it if they'd known the extent of Shawn Camp's injury.

Each of The Big Three were in action yesterday, finally, and each had a notable performance. Also: looking ahead to the second round of the Draft.

Doesn't matter if you hold them to one. Can't win if you don't score.

I’d love to see Cardenas get more playing time. He Had a good game and so did the top of the order. Glad to see Castro get back to normal self after a mini slump.
man o man im so glad i didnt stay up to watch this mess AGAIN!!
Jees, when was the last time we beat Arizona??? It seems forever ago…
I was at the Cashner start where we won against them. That just seems like a whole bunch of rare piled into one.
Seems like The Giants are in the market for an offensive upgrade at 2nd base over Ryan theriot. They be interested in Darwin Barney? I guess they really don’t want to risk there defense if they improve there offense, so it seems like a perfect fit for the Giants. It probably would cost them a ton, but we could get a very solid prospect in return with some upside since Barney’s value is higher then people think with him being a very good defensive shortstop his natural position. Hopefully Giants can pony up for him and we get a good return.
Also Tigers seem to be looking for a second baseman
DeJesus and Castro got on base a combined 8 times and scored no runs.
Dale Sveun you suck or are the CUBS just this bad .
the Cubs are just this bad
Valbuena is…not good. Also, you could tell in the first inning that Maholm didn’t have it and was hanging his breaking ball. Sveum has really had trouble recognizing when guys need to come out of the game all season.
So, do you guys still think the sample size for LaHair’s RISP aveage is too small to be a concern ? Let’s see someone said it would take 450 ab w/risp to make him concerned. At this rate it would take about 4 more years of this for him to be concerned.
I’m not against LaHair. I’d love to see him do well. But right know he looks like a 1 month wonder and doesn’t deserve to be starting.
Looking more and more like Cubs are sitting good to get the #1 draft pick for next year!
I turned off the TV and went to bed when AZ tied the score at 3 all, knowing how it was going to end. The LaHair fire is out and has been out for a month. (He’s now bald.) I could never understand how fans could jump on his bandwagon so soon and so avidly. I guess because we are starved for hitters, eh? Lets hope that Rizzo doesn’t react negatively to all the hype.
You could tell that Maholm wasn’t going to last as 80% of his pitches in the first 2 innings were above the hips. Good hitters take advantage of that location.
Sigh. Long season getting longer.
Would you rather have a package from the Braves, bluejays or Royals for Garza?
21 guys left on base? Seriously? I was out most of the night and only got to see an inning but good god. That’s almost impossible to pull off.
Maholm-not as good as I had hoped. Shame.
I still love lahair
