I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 30 hours straight, until slightly past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, Series Preview, Pre-Gamin’, EBS), as well as an uptick in rumor/trade posts.
It’s the home stretch, and I’m absolutely cracking. That’s thanks mostly to the frenetic pace of the rumors, rather than the lack of sleep. Here we go on the final update before this thing closes down …
Total Posts So Far:
33 (and a WHOLE bunch of updates).
News and Rumors Since the Last Recap:
Oh, I think you know. It’s been a Matt Garza and Ryan Dempster explosion.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
The Cubs might actually deal BOTH Dempster and Garza after dealing Maholm last night. In fact, according to most reports, that’s what WILL happen.
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
Gotta see the returns, baby, but if you’re going to blow it up, BLOW IT UP.
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Mocha frappuccino from Starbucks (in my fridge, anyway).
Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
I’M GONNA CRACK WHILE TRYING TO WRITE AN ACTUAL COMPLETED TRADE POST.

The @bleachernation #BNBlogathon has turned into a game of Contra and Brett did not use the 30 lives code. #RapidFire

Current Mood:
I think it’s happened. At least, it feels like it …

For many reasons, we all appreciate you taking the time to clean yourself up a little. Nice to at least see the change of clothes.
Great job so far. Ive been entertained and you have been on top of everything! Pretty impressive for the lack of sleep and you even changed Shirts!!!!!
Nice coloration on the face. Turning red because you’re blowing up. Solid work.
Scary thing? Not a single bit of photoshopping. That’s just me right now.
Hang in there, Brett!
Not sure how your doing it. Just seeding t
Seeing that picture of sveum makes me want to take a nap (Edit button required)
Thank you, Brett!!
Unsubstantiated rumor: Dempster vetos deal to Dodgers again; holding out for Angels instead.
You changed your shirt. Hope that garnered a few minutes of feeling refreshed.
DoD you change shirts because of the Trey McNut rumor?
Can’t say I’m excited to see Russell’s name come up but likely he’s viewed much like Sean Marshall and Andrew Cashner during the offseason. Giving up a middle reliever for starting pitching or impact bats is worth it.
Fresh shirt! Always a nice touch.
Wtg Brett rosenthal, stark and the rest should be checking yr sources yr more accurate and do a much better job , almost there Brett great job
If we are sending MLB players to the Dodgers we better get some damned good talent coming back. Especially if we are sending Russell and others. IMO LAD farm system isn’t all that great other than a few pitchers that they same to think are world beaters. I’m not the least bit convinced they are that flush with pitching talent.
It’s going to come down to a dog fight over Garza. Diamondbacks, Rangers both are reaching desperation mode. Rangers are losing their grip on the AL West and could easily finish 3rd in that Division. The Dbacks have to make a move to stay close to SF and LAD. I would love to see Billy Bean sneak in and snag Garza just to mess with the Angels and Rangers.
That is the face your daughter will see sometime in the early teen years!
Dempster’s wife was just signed to appear on Orange County Housewives. It’s all coming together now. Dempster pitches for LAD and his wife is running around with Vicki and they scheme up the whole divorce for $$$ and Heather dumps Slade and starts dating Dempster and there is a big fight in the stands as Dempster warms up before his next start and they all get thrown in jail. Dempster misses next couple starts because he gets a concussion from a can of frozen orange to the back of the head from his wife when caught with Heather. Jeez the drama is awesome.
