Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. Dodgers (3:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, etc. (Brett Jackson Starting)

Brett Jackson and Josh Vitters are with the Cubs, but only Jackson is starting today. I wouldn’t read much into that, though, as the Iowa Cubs played pretty late last night. Could be any number of reasons Vitters isn’t starting today. He will be come tomorrow.

The lineup is pretty interesting with Jackson in it. He slots into the second spot, with Starlin Castro moving all the way down to fifth. I’m not sure I like that, long-term, but, for now, I suppose it makes some sense.

Sveum, you were supposed to put someone that makes contact in there to pinch hit in that situation…and you put the guy who hasn’t hit a ball in the past month. Smart….

  2. todd

Or atleast put someone to sacrifice. My god

Two blown saves for both teams today.

  7. die hard

Looks like Sveum is listening to some of our rants..like get Castro down further in lineup ….5th is not 6th but better than 1-4

    1. Carew

He wont be in that spot forever. Hes a natural top-of-the-order hitter

      1. die hard

he doesnt have the speed or discipline to be 1-2…doesnt have the power to be 345…6-7 is where he belongs

        1. Carew

He certainly has the hit tool to be in the 2-3 spot and he aint a slouch on the basepaths. Hes not campana but hes not LaHair either. Hes a good mid-range speed type, will get ya 20 steals. And its obvious he is working on his patience and situational hitting. Plus hes young enough to compete at a high level while improving on what needs work

    Brett,
You have one of the most popular Cubs blogs on the internet, please start a active campaign trying to get support for ‘Rizzo NL Rookie of the Year’. If any die-hard Cubs fan could drum up support for Rizzo, it’s you.

Remember- “With great power, Comes great responsibly.”

      1. JP cubed

Yeah this one had a classic marmol collapse written all over it, he should thank Camp for blowing it before he could get in there

  12. Brian Peters

Damn!! I missed the Rizzo jack!

  13. JP cubed

All these blown saves and marmol has yet to pitch. Should be entertaining

I’m sooooooo glad to see Vitters and Jackson up. Throw them into the fire and see if they’re worth being on this team next year. If Vitters can fit in with Barney, Castro, and Rizzo that infield will be special. Jackson, DeJesus, and Soriano isn’t too bad of an outfield. You add some starting pitching to that lineup, and things can be looking up for 2013! As the late great Randy ‘The Macho Man’ Savage use to say; “DIG IT! YEAH!” By the way, how do I put a profile picture on my posts?
