The Rockies aren’t particularly good at baseball this year, but neither are the Cubs. What could happen today?! No one knows! That’s the magic!

In fact, something as crazy as Joe Mather leading off could happen!

Colorado Rockies (50-73) at Chicago Cubs (47-76), 1:20 CT on WGN.

WOW, I was kind of excited about watching Samardzija and Pomeranz face each other but the Mather leading off kind of took the wind out of my sails :(

    • HuskerCub

Yeah, I don’t think we are going to win many games with that line-up.

      • EvenBetterNewsV2.0

I am assuming this is the point. This lineup is horrible. Watch them put up 20 after me saying this.

  • rbreeze

I predict that the Cubs will win this series. Samardzija and TBA on saturday will be the difference. As for Mather leading off, its just Dale pulling out all the stops.

  • MikeL

Might as well give Mather a shot at the top since just about every other lineup has failed the Cubs this year.

  • Mick6x

If nobody can hit with runners on base does it really matter what the line up looks like! Maybe Shark should lead off

Dodgers just claimed Adrian Gonzalez off waivers! Crazy.. Also jacoby Ellsbury was put on waivers, hes a theo guy any possibilities?

    • http://www.bleachernation.com Brett

The former isn’t really a huge deal unless they actually can put together a trade (which is very hard, given that any players on the 40-man roster would have to clear waivers, too). The latter … no. Nothing there.

I need something to cheer me up. Somebody please tell me who the Cubs will draft with the #2 pick next year? ;-)

  • CubsFan4Life

The Cubs “offense” is really getting hard to listen to. We are playing at Wrigley Field against the 3rd worse team in the MLB. Coloroado’s pitcher comes into the game with a 4.87 ERA, so of course he’s got a no hitter against the Cubs through the first 4 innings.

  • CubsFan4Life

Thank you Soriano. That solo home run breaks up the no hitter and makes me feel better.

    • Flashfire

And there’s Wellington. Great bat for a catcher.

        BJax!

Anyone else have a mini heart attack when they saw MLBTR tweet. “Minor Moves: Cubs, Koyie Hill.”
