The Cubs will try to take the series today, but they’ll have to beat Matt Cain to do it. Or, well, not beat Cain, but, like, not give up a ton of runs, and then beat the bullpen. But the first sentence is easier.

Yo…Cain Vs. Wood. I do not like our chances.

  • cubsin

Travis Wood has had terrible luck this year with his pitching opponents.

  • Mysterious4th

The cubs will be like the engine that could just remember “I think I can”

  • Josh

Why couldn’t the Rangers just tra Profar to us? He’s 2-2 in his career with a HR and 2B. Looks so poised at the plate. No wonder he’s been untouchable.Wonder what they are going to do with eiher Young, Kinsler, and Andrus. Talk about a log jam. Great problem to have though. Kinsler’s $75 mil extensions kicks in after this year. Andrus has $10 mil due over the next 2 years and Young is owed $16 mil next year. I think all 3 will be available this offseason and they will trade 2 of them

    • Flashfire

We could have offered Starlin Castro straight up for Jurickson Profar and there is no way the Rangers touch that. Profar is that good. This is only the beginning.

  • nkniacc13

Sounds like Andrus will be traded this offseason.

    • Josh

Yeah. Kinsler won’t be moved with that contract and same goes for Young after his year this year. They could package Andrus to receive a nice pitcher in return. Obviously they’d rather move Kinser or Young so they can save money for Hamilton, but I don’t think they will be able to get much of a return on either of those guys with their deals

  • nkniacc13

im going to be interested in seeing where Hamliton goes. The Dodgers and the yanks 2 of the spts most saw him going really don’t have sots for him. The Red Sox have the cash for him but will they go after him if not then where does he go if he leaves texas

    • Crazythorse

I think Hamilton will sign with Texas. I do not think anyone will gamble long term with him and the The Rangers can give him more money for a shorter contract. Texas also has no income tax so he nets more money. Texas has the DH and that option dont hurt either. SO – I feel Texas signs Hamilton, with a hometown discount in dollars and years. And besides any NL team would be a high risk ( price and position value)

Just when we started talking about Marmol not sucking…

    • Picklenose

First time this year that I didn’t cringe a little (well, actually alot early in the season) when Marmol got up to throw. He cured that quickly.

  • TakingWrigleyToSaoPaulo

Tyler Colvin having himself a nice season. Think we got schooled on that trade.

    • Flashfire

You’re the first one to point that out.

    • Homer

Nah. I was one of the one’s that said trade him. I think his season this year is a fluke. All seasoned scouts said the same thing. Watch what happens to Tyler next year. Not that I wishing anything bad. He had a career year in my opinion.

    Advanced Box Score
There was both good and bad in this game. Wood had one bad inning, but pitched a good ball game. Russell and Camp both pitched well out of the pen, but Corpas and Marmol were both awful out of the pen. The cubs played some good defense at times, but they also made some bad plays. DeJesus 2-4 RBI 2K. He played great defense and had some great ABs with RISP. Valbuena 0-3 BB 2K played some great defense, but had some bad ABs early in the game. Rizzo 0-3 1BB had an error today which led to 2 runs. Soriano 1-3 HR 3RBI 2K. Sori had 2 great moments in this game. His 3-run HR was huge and he also made a jumping catch at the wall, but he had some bad ABs with 2Ks and he misplayed Belt’s triple. I believe it should have been caught, even though it was a tough play. Castro 0-3 HBP. Clevenger 1-4 2B. Clevenger did not look good behind the plate today. He just could not get in front of balls to help his pitchers. I do not even recall him going down to block a ball all game. Jackson 0-4 3K. A tough day at the plate, but he played great defense in center. Barney 3-4 had the best all-around game today. Defense and getting on base 3 times scoring 2 runs. Sappelt 0-1, Mather 0-1 GIDP to end the game. My shout out goes to Darwin Barney. Great all-around game!

    See next year.
