The Cubs, er, I mean, the Rockies go for the sweep today. The “regular” lineup is back, though it doesn’t look a whole lot different from the bench version of the last couple days.

I get to take in today’s game at a local bar (well, BW3’s, to be precise) with a couple BN’ers ’round these parts. A rare treat in a lousy second half of the season.

(Unrelatedly, Nick Struck and Logan Watkins (as hinted this morning) have been named the Cubs’ minor league pitcher and player of the year, respectively. This will get its own post, but I thought I’d let you know now.)

This is one of the most (un)important games of the year.

For the good of the franchise, we need to lose(win) this game today. Someone really needs to step up (tank it) for us.

Losing (winning) will almost certainly ensure us the 2nd pick, so lets all pull against (for) our beloved Cubs !!!

I feel like its “opposite day”….a recent episode of SpongeBob…

  • SFCCubbie_Fan

I am not for sure about everyone out there, but I really do not want the Cubbies to break 100 losses, yes it would mean a 2nd overall draft pick, but I love seeing the young guys pull one out and the hope that comes with the ‘W’ flying in Chacago! Go Cubs Go!

    • ry34

hell we won’t win again this season, 100+ losses is a guarantee, only the third cub team ever to do it and the first one in 46years, nice job cubs!

  • MightyBear

I’d love to see Nick Struck jump AAA into the rotation next year. Samardjia, Wood, Struck, Volstad and Garza or if Garza traded a Maholm type FA might not be a bad rotation next year assuming everyone matures a bit and the Cubs score more runs for them.

  • ry34

Please cut volstad as soon as possible, dude just flat out sucksssssssssssss!

  • JK

At least Volstad did not give up any walks. With 10 hits he must have been hitting the zone. There is not much outside of Castro and Rizzo that excites me about this team. I want to like Barney but a light hitting defensive specialist always looks good on someone else’s team.

      well said!
