Sammy Sosa did not receive enough votes yesterday to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but he’s probably about to enter the Hall of Awesome Web Stuff.
Sosa, by way of his Twitter account (which Fred Mitchell has said is authentic), shared his new Pinterest page. It is the most magnificent thing in the history of Web 2.0. Typically used to catalog pictures of stuff you like, recipe ideas, cute outfits, and other “craft-y” type stuff, Pinterest has a certain culture to it. (Wikipedia describes it as, “a pinboard-style photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies, and more.”)
Sammy is blowing that culture up, and is instead showing off his personal style.
There remains a small amount of debate concerning the authenticity of the Pinterest page, though the pictures are obviously real. You will have to go to the page to embrace its full magnificence, and let’s try to keep the comments within the realm of respectability, but here’s a sample chunk:

Ha, rocking the Dracula vibe in that suit. Brings back good memories of Sammy. And I want those black chairs.
I’m at a loss for words.
Well this just made my day
Awesome. I hope the Cubs “Welcome him back” soon.
Anyone notice the product Injex in the photo of Sammy and his computer monitor?
Injex – a needle free injection system
Oh my…
The irony.
Irony shmirony. That’s just f-ing hilarious.
Note to Sammy: In the future, you might want to clear your desk before snapping those web photos.
Again, it’s his company – it was intentional.
It’s a product of his because of a childhood fear of needles. It’s for diabetics and other folks who have to take regular injections, but don’t like needles. I won’t comment on the obvious, but it sounds like it could actually be a pretty helpful product.
I have an intense fear of the prostate check…someone needs to find an alternative. I’m looking at you Sammy!
“Sammy Sosa.I am the real Sammy Sosa. see personal snaps here of me and my family. I love baseball, but now I’m a businessman and entrepreneur. website up soon!”
So, his family is just himself?
Yeah, helpful injecting roids while in Frisco on your way to Chi-Town. But I kid.
The man knows how to style and profile. Now if he can actually go back to looking like Sammy Sosa and not a Dominican Michael Jackson
It would be creepy as hell to tour the Sosa estate. Every room is full of wax statues of himself.
Holy Cow!
Sammy does know English?!
Here is his flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mr609sosa/
Thank you for not saying “Mitchell reports” Sammy Sosa ‘s twitter account is authentic.
A wise group of men once said, “Every girls crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man.”. Well folks, it appears as if as of today, every girl is officially crazy ’bout Sammy Sosa.
dude still looks pretty ripped.. maybe someone should tell him he can stop using the PED’s now.
Good to know he didn’t get fat. I had a picture of mind of him looking like Kruk. Dude has some style. Still means nothing. But, as Brett points out, quite hilarious.
Kinda like this?

For the yellow mustard shirt:
1. “I bet with that you get a free bowl of soup”
2. “Looks good on you though…”
Clicked on the link to Sammy’s Pinterest page, and, low-and-behold my gf’s account was still logged in. Needless to say, she’s now following Sammy and re-pinned one of his pics on her man-crush board.
[...] Sosa has already taken to Twitter, Facebook, and – most notably – Pinterest in an effort to re-elevate his profile, and perhaps help turn his name around in the minds of [...]
