katie cernek cubs fanFor the third year in a row, MLB is hosting a “Fan Cave,” in which a handful of baseball fans will live and watch every single MLB game during the 2013 season, while chronicling their experience online. It’s like ‘The Real World’ with baseball. And the Internet.

There are currently 52 finalists to win a spot in the Fan Cave, and only one of them is a Chicago Cubs fan. Poor showing, dudes and dudettes.

But that one fan – Katie Cernek – needs our help. If she gets enough votes between now and February 13th, she’ll get to go to Spring Training for a final audition type of thing, and then maybe she can win a spot in the Fan Cave, and represent Cubs fan interests there.

So, go here to the MLB Fan Cave page, and vote for Katie (which you can do as many times as your heart desires – you’ll note it auto-rotates among the entrants, so you actually have to scroll down and find Katie. She’s the only Cubs fan, so it’s pretty easy).

Here’s her entry video for the contest:

I know – it rotates automatically. You have to scroll down to her.

I was at that game with Guttierez scoring as a result of the various rundowns. It was the game Steve McMichael sang the stretch and was tossed from the game. The umps were awful, but they got the final call right, although from my vantage point behind the left field dugout, it looked like he was out. It was only seeing it on Sportcenter that I realized they got it right. I won the tickets from WGN radio.

Kieth Law just came out with his rankings of the farm systems in all of MLB. Cubs come in at number 5 with the cards at number 1. IF anyone has ESPN insider, here is the link:

I thought the #10 and #13 rankings were a bit low given the progress of the system. That said, #5 seems a bit high.

  • TWC

Oh, man. That is a terrible, terrible video. Just. Awful.

    • TWC

I mean, it’d be nice to have a Cubs fan represented, I guess (I really don’t get the whole Fan Cave thing), but if that’s the finalist, I’d hate to see the audition videos that were rejected.

    • Patrick G

Ya as much as I want a Cub fan there, that video wasn’t too convincing. Didn’t see any other better Cubs fans on there so hope she gets lucky

  • Njriv

She’s no Ashely Chavez, that chick stole my heart.

  • Andrew

I hate to beat up on a Cubs fan, but that video has got to be one of the worst i’ve ever seen… wow…

  • MightyBear

She’s good looking. (At least in that pictue)

    • Brady

I agree, just wish the same could be said about the video. I liked the cubs representative last year, his video was solid. Shame he didn’t win.

  • Carew

Man I dont care about the video. Gotta represent somehow

    • frank

      Yup–I agree.

Great work! That is the kind of info that should be shared around the net.
Shame on Google for now not positioning this submit higher!

Come on over and seek advice from my site . Thank you =)
