Some fans wear articles of clothing representing their favorite team. Some fans do that almost every day. Some fans name their kids after their favorite players. Some fans set up a dedicated team shrine in their house. Some fans even get tattoos of their team.
But Chicago Cubs fans choose the team’s logo for their new prosthetic eye:

That picture comes courtesy of the Smithsonian, noting that an Iraq war veteran who needed a prosthetic eye passed on the more traditional options in favor of a Chicago Cubs logo, which now stares back at you like the greatest high five ever.

Ho-ly crap. That is so awesome. Somebody cut out my eye, so I can have one!
I’d much rather have this guy, an Iraq War Veteran, throw out the first pitch to a game then some stupid celebrity.
Yep. I couldnt agree more.

We should start some petition to ask the Cubs to ask this vet if he would do Cubdom the honor!
I’d sign it.

Me too!

What Seth said…
Kick ass !
I would rather have contact lenses with the cubs logo on them so that everytime I watched a cubs game it gave me the illusion that they were really good, and winning.
Too bad Kirby Puckett didn’t play for the Cubs…wait, too soon??
aw man, thats just cruel. The sad part is, I don’t think Kirby even seen this joke coming. Badaboom!!!!!!!!!!

I’m a Navy Corpsman and took care of a lot of wounded warriors at the Bethesda Naval Hospital. I had a yound Marine that lost his eye and did the same thing for his team, the Red Sox. It’s still pretty awesome.
Thank you for your service.
Thanks. I love doing it.
“which now stares back at you like the greatest high five ever.”
Shouldn’t that be an eye five?
I wish I could see what you did there but I don’t have an eye for these things.
Here take mine.

Hey man, put that thing back in before it gets stuck. Haven’t your grandma ever told you about that?
Keep forgetting to change my name back.
Who *ARE* you?
Allice Cooper?

At first I saw this and thought “Wow, that’s great.”
Then I thought: “Man, it’s really crappy that such a fine American hero is stuck rooting for the Chicago Cubs.”
He deserves better.
That is awesome! I am getting a cubs logo put on my back where my kidney was and in the shape of the kidney
my twin was also named after sandberg….he got the cool story of where his name came from….mine a subdivison *shakes head*
